Fem procent större mässa i år än förra året.

Gamescom gillar långa pressmeddelanden
Gamescom kanske anlitar konsulter för att skriva sina pressmeddelanden och de får eventuellt betalt per ord. Det förefaller i alla fall så. De har kanske världens längsta pressmeddelanden som man i ärlighetens namn skulle kunna banta en hel del. Idag kom ett jättelångt sådant som vi summerar lite, men har hela saken nedan för de som vill läsa allt i sin helhet. Eller, vi trimmade bort alla onödiga saker utan info, det är långt i alla fall.

210 000 kvadratmeter
Mässan är fem procent större än föregående år och det blir totalt 210 000 kvadratmeter. Nu är inte det 210 000 kvadratmeter spel, utan det är också andra inslag så som radiostyrda bilar med mera. Så det är stort och packat med spel, men inte så packat som man kanske kan tro av siffrorna. Över 1000 utställare kommer att finns på plats och över 50 olika länder kommer att representeras bland utställarna.

Öppningskväll den 19:e augusti
Den 19:e augusti klockan 20.00 kommer Geoff Keighley, som har en vana att synas i spelkretsar och numera även arrangerar Videogame Awards i Los Angeles, att sköta om öppningskvällen. 1500 personer på plats kan se showen, men resten av världen kan självklart se den på diverse streamingplattformar.

Öppningsshowen blir lite av ett pressevent där det kommer att visas upp nya spel och nya trailers till spel som alla känner till. Säkert något från Cyberpunk, gissningsvis någon form av gameplay från det som visades bakom stängda dörrar på E3-mässan i Los Angeles. Det här blir en ytterligare yta för utställarna att nå ut till målgruppen och det är ett smart tilltag från Gamescom. Via livesändning blir mässan relevant för hela världen och de kan säkert klämma ut en och annan krona mer från utställarna på samma gång.

Things get started once again on 20 August 2019: Europe’s leading business platform of the games industry opens its gates – first for trade visitors and media representatives. From 21 to 24 August, hundreds of thousands of games fans are then once again expected in the Cologne exhibition halls. In 2019, gamescom will cover a total space of 210,000 square metres (+5 percent in comparison to 2018) and, thanks to this and other measures, promises more space and a better quality of stay for visitors. Games fans can also look forward to many innovations and hundreds of game highlights: with more than 1,000 expected exhibitors, spectacular games presentations are guaranteed. The field of participants of gamescom is once again as international as usual – more than 50 countries will be represented. The gamescom indie village (hall 10.2) and the event arena (NEW:11.3) will also be celebrating their premieres this year. The week ”full of gaming” starts on 19 August with the new opening show, the gamescom: Opening Night Live with host and producer Geoff Keighley. For those who want to be there when ”The Heart of Gaming” once again beats in Cologne from 20 to 24 August 2019: all available tickets can be found under www.gamescom.global

”The success story of gamescom is impressive. This surely lies in the imposing development of the number of exhibitors and visitors, as well as the continuous increase in internationality in recent years. However, this year the focus is primarily on strategic and conceptual developments – which will become visible and experienceable at gamescom: the reinforcement as a platform for new products, the theme of independent developers, as well as continuing digitalisation, internationalisation and ”eventification” are some of the central innovations here. Strong start: the gamescom: Opening Night Live guarantees a rousing start to the gamescom week. On Monday, 19 August 2019 at 8:00 p.m., host and producer Geoff Keighley will inspire around 1,500 visitors with the new live show. This will give gamers around the world an overview of what to expect during gamescom week in the context of gamescom: Opening Night Live. The brand new show will feature announcements from major publishers and independent developers, as well as world premiers with new trailers and guest appearances by stars from the international games industry. Extra ticketing is planned for the gamescom: Opening Night Live – more information will follow soon. Those who can’t be there live in hall 11.3 have the possibility to follow the show as of 8:00 p.m. CET, 2:00 p.m. EDT, 11:00 a.m. PDT in live stream, including at www.gamescom.global .

Games fans can also look forward to more innovations in the entertainment area (halls 5 to 10, 11.3 and P8). One of these is the new event arena in hall 11.3. Here, visitors can experience a special event programme that differs clearly from other event areas of gamescom. The gamescom indie village is also celebrating its premiere in hall 10.2: visitors will find hundreds of independent developers here. gamescom fans can generally look forward to more space this year. In addition to the enlargement of the area to 210,000 square metres, the rectification of visitor hotspots, the widening of the corridors, additional catering and lounge areas, as well as the introduction of the new evening ticket, with which one can enter the fair grounds for 7 Euro from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., should ensure a better gamescom experience.

Soon: figures, dates, facts
The business area of gamescom 2019 is located in halls 1 to 4. It is traditionally the first point of contact for trade visitors and the location of this year’s paretner country, the Netherlands. The presence of the partner country is organised by the Dutch Games Association. The Dutch pavilion can be found in hall 4.1 at stand A65/B70. The business area is also home to more country pavilions. In total, 29 countries are represented with 25 pavilions at this year’s gamescom. Lithuania will have a pavilion at gamescom for the first time. The entertainment area encompasses halls 5 to 10 and 11.3, as well as P8. This year, gamescom is covering a total of 210,000 square metres (+5 percent in comparison to 2018). The forecast number of exhibitors is around 1,050. Companies from more than 50 countries are expected in Cologne (foreign share of around 70 percent). Among others, the following companies have confirmed their participation in the world’s largest event for interactive entertainment.
